SAU#9's Alert Messaging System can now send text messages
SAU#9's SchoolMessenger Communicate SMS Text Option
SchoolMessenger Communicate, our alert notification system, has the capability of sending text messages to your mobile devices with important information about events, school closings, and safety alerts.
An opt-in text was sent to all contacts currently in our system on December 11th, 2017. If you did not respond to this opt-in alert message and would still like to participate you can do so by choosing one of the following options:
Opt-In Options:
(This is only for numbers that currently exist in our system. If you have a new number, contact your school before opting-in.)
Option 1. Send a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our SAU9 shortcode number, 67587.
Option 2. Use our QR code to send a text message of “Y” or “Yes”.
If at any time you want to opt out of receiving these text messages you can simply reply to a message with “Stop”. SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so you can be assured that your information is safe and will not be given or sold to anyone. Please note: opting in to the text message service will not discontinue you from receiving voice messages.
Information on SMS text messaging and Short Codes:
SMS stands for Short Message Service and is commonly referred to as a “text message”. Most cell phones support this type of text messaging. Our notification provider, SchoolMessenger, uses a true SMS protocol developed by the telecommunications industry specifically for mass text messaging referred to as “short code” texting. This method is fast, secure, and highly reliable because it is strictly regulated by the wireless carriers and only allows access to approved providers. Standard message and data rates may apply.
