Our hard-working PTSA networks with students, their families, local schools and businesses to help expand the educational opportunities for students at Kennett Middle School. This includes working with the DC Parent Trip Coordinators in their monumental task of raising funds to take the entire 8th grade class and their chaperones to Washington,DC in the spring. The Class of 2014 Washington DC Trip Parent Coordinators are Betty Loynd and Crystal Turner. We are always looking for volunteers to fill this year's PTSA board. Please contact Betty Loynd

Thank you for the great turnout for the spaghetti dinner and open house last Thursday evening. A special thanks to Steve Brecker (our cook) for donating his time and kitchen to help support the PTSA and Washington, DC trip. We do have the best kitchen staff in the world! Please remember to
As we get prepared for the evening’s festivities (dinner cruise), students are unwinding in the game room with friends. This morning, we were fortunate to have Shelby, Ariel, Marissa and Torin represent KMS at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by laying our New Hampshire wreath. It is quite an honor to be part of this ceremony as requests are given up to one year in advance. The dress code for the ceremony is enforced quite stringently as Torin had to borrow Lauren’s shoes to make the grade!! I knew that our students understood the significance of the events as I observed the solemn faces and expressions of our kids as “Taps” was played by bugle. The rain didn’t slow us down as we continued our tour of Arlington Cemetery with stops by the Kennedy gravesite and the Eternal Flame. The grass was green, the tulips blooming and the Cherry Trees bright and beautiful.
The rain continued (real rain!!) at the National Zoo where students were treated to the Pandas up close and personal. The bird refuge offered some dry areas for observation. I did notice some of our own students morphing into pandas (Emily and Marcy) with new found masks. Pictures will tell the story…
The National Cathedral was awe inspiring with an appreciation for the gothic architecture and stained glass windows. Our tour guides provided a great deal of information and insight as the students walked gazing toward the ceilings. It was an eye opening experience for all. I think some of our students are already planning a return trip…
Our kids are doing great! We will try to update upon return from the cruise.
