The 2nd annual Unified Arts Festival was held on June 10th at Kennett Middle School. This smashing event was well attended by students, their families, staff and community members. This event showcased student achievements from the Unified Arts classes.
Band and Chorus performed in the newly renovated courtyard, posters were presented and displayed about health topics and family badminton and ping pong matches continued throughout the night in the gymnasium. Students prepared an international assortment of food samples which complimented our world language oral presentations.
Over 300 pieces of student artwork were displayed throughout the building and judged. Claire Martindale’s self-portrait won “Best in Show” and will be displayed permanently in the Terri Brook’s Art Gallery at KMS. Despite the inclement weather, the 8th graders were able to launch several versions of their model rockets to the delight on many onlookers. The technology students in 7th grade raced their CO2 powered dragsters vying for the coveted KMS championship trophy. Jacob Cameron took top honors with Tim Lane a close runner-up. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this an enjoyable evening. Hope to see you at the 3d annual Unified Arts festival next spring at Kennett Middle School.

With the end of the school year fast approaching, Kennett Middle School 8th graders are beginning to think about next year and attending the Kennett High School. One of the transition activities our 8th graders will participate in is a trip to Kennett High School with their team. Kennett Middle School students from team 3 will be going to the high school on Tuesday, May 11 while team 4 students will visit on Wednesday, May 12. Both teams will leave Kennett Middle School at 11:30am. Students will eat lunch at the high school just as they will next year. Following lunch students will be given a tour of the facilities and a presentation by the high school guidance department. Kennett Middle School students who take the bus will ride their normal bus from the high school. Walkers and pickups will also take a bus and will be returned to the Kennett Middle School by 2:40 pm.
