2014 Winter Olympics at KMS
On January 28, 2014
Unified Arts teachers have organized an Olympic-themed unit for their students during A & B time from January 21st to February 14, 2014. The first week students were divided into countries to make flags, banners, and pins for their country. An opening ceremony was held on Monday, January 27, with the entire student body marching into the gymnasium with their banners, and waving the flags that they made. Kyra Cunio and Zach Boucher were the official torch bearers and lit the cauldron to officially begin the ceremony. Principal Richard spoke about the importance of the Olympics; Steve and Sally Swenson talked about their memories supporting their son, Carl’s, Nordic racing events at three Olympics. For the next three weeks, students will compete in a variety of Olympic adapted sports and experience the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect. A closing ceremony will take place on Friday, February 14th.
