Home Depot Donates Smoke Detectors to KMS Technology Students
As part of their assignment in Mr. McKay’s Technology class, some students learned that the technology used in smoke detectors was developed by NASA for use in manned spacecraft. When the students made a presentation to the class about their findings, it led to a discussion about the importance of having working smoke detectors in our homes. When Mr. McKay mentioned the students’ projects to the managers of our local Home Depot, they devised an idea to reward the students for their work and emphasize the importance of having smoke detectors placed properly throughout our homes. For a limited time, any student who writes an essay about home safety, will receive a coupon for a free smoke detector that may be redeemed at Home Depot.
